Polycentricity is one of the most frequently invoked goals in German spatial planning — but what exactly do plans commit to, on what grounds, and through which instruments? This project reads the full corpus of state (Landesentwicklungspläne) and regional (Regionalpläne) plans with a large language model, extracting and classifying every clause that invokes a polycentric spatial structure.
Rezoning leaves a long paper trail — online feedback, staff referral reports, public hearing transcripts, Council decisions. This project reads that record with large language models to trace how housing supply narratives are made, contested, and reshaped as British Columbia's approval reforms take hold.
The dynamic adjustment of population and employment: Evidence from Chinese prefectural regions
Do people move for jobs, or do jobs move for people? A regional adjustment model across Chinese prefectural regions for 2002–2010 and 2010–2019 finds the balance shifting decisively toward amenities and skilled labor.
Vertical price curves in the Beijing residential housing market
Using roughly 600,000 resale records from 2012 to 2019, this paper measures the ground-floor premium and top-floor discount in Beijing, and shows how both flip with building height — and with whether the building has an elevator.
